SAN ANTONIO - The Simulation Football League announced the four newest members of the league at halftime of the SFL Championship Game, Sunday April 19. These new owners were voted in by current owner majority vote and were voted in one by one, to ensure that each candidate's application was thoroughly compared against the others.
The league appreciates the overwhelming number of applicants leading up to this process and these decisions were certainly not easy to make.
SANTA FE GORILLAS
Santa Fe owner Joel Ramos Lynn has proven his dedication to the league, is a current coordinator in the SFL and has been a major participant at league events. He's proven his skills with All-Pro Football 2k8 and had a successful season with the Baltimore Crabs. The Santa Fe Gorillas will become the first international team in the SFL, sporting the colors of blue and orange. Lynn's passion and dedication was certainly recognized by current owners and was an easy choice for league expansion. Congratulations to SFL username RamosLynn, his future staff and collection of fans!
LOUISVILLE WOLFPACK
Louisville owner Derik Overstreet is a proven winner and champion. On the field and off, this owner brings skills, talent and expertise to the game of football. As a former sim owner, owners are confident that the pedigree of victories will translate into the SFL. The Louisville Wolfpack will bring the SFL to Kentucky for the first time, with the colors of blue and white proudly displayed. Owners who knew Overstreet from his previous stint in the WAFL knows just what the Wolfpack bring to the table. Overstreet has one season of Division I collegiate football under his belt at Western Kentucky. Congratulations to SFL username Lou_Wolfpack!
TALLAHASSEE PRIDE
Owner Frank Goodin II will provide an old face to a new audience. While this applicant is brand new to the Irvine-led sim football leagues, his desire to grow the SFL brand could not be compared during the decision making process. The emmy-award winning film maker could be a game-changer for the league moving forward. Introducing the Tallahassee Pride, decked out in purple and gold. The Pride will be the second team to call Florida home and provides an instant regional rivalry to the Orlando Intimidators. Florida also becomes the first state in league history to have more than one team call it home. Congrats to SFL username trueshotcaller1!
D.C. DRAGONS
Owner Jermaine Smith has shown his tremendous passion and dedication to the SFL over the past two seasons. A sim community guy, this applicant has proven that with the power of marketing and social media, anything is possible. While a certain team continues to struggle with their identity in this city, this ownership group will certainly have no identity issue.
The D.C. Dragons, owned by SFL username darthdestromd, will bring teal, black and gold into the league, along with the biggest staff of scouts and coaches in league history. The application, a wonder in itself, was well received and undeniable during the expansion process. A big round of applause for the nation capital's newest team.
The Summer 15 season, a special 5th anniversary season for the SFL, will kick off mid-June with four games per week broadcasted live on Twitch.tv, played on Wednesday/Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
