SAN ANTONIO - The record book was forever changed this past week in the SFL as the league enters it's halfway point of the Winter 2014 season.
Dallas' organization and players set three of those records Saturday night in a 45-41 shootout victory over Orlando. The Stars offense's 45 points is a new season-high around the league and was the main reason Dallas won their second straight game to improve to 2-1 on the year. The offense produced a league-record 654 yards of total offense. Stars defensive tackle Larry Henderson set the record for most sacks in a game - 4.5. Orlando's quarterback, Kevin Walker, had been sacked only five times in his first three games of this campaign.
Oklahoma City's Pete Bruschi set the all-time record for most rushing yards in a game by a player - in the first quarter and a half of the Renegades 28-26 over Grand Rapids. Bruschi finished with 368 yards on 30 carries for 4 touchdowns. In his three games against the Rollers, Bruschi has averaged 8.98 yards per carry (800 yards on 89 carries). Oklahoma City has won all three meetings.
The New York Knights became the first team to return two interceptions for touchdowns in the same game, defeating the San Francisco Bulldogs, 30-14 for the defending champs' first win of the season Sunday night. Jeb Gatlin earned his first interception of his career and took it to the house 59 yards to put the Knights up 7-0. Leading 23-7, D.J. McCoo earned his second pick-six of the season, taking it back 58 yards.
The 14 points off turnovers was the most in team history. New York leapfrogged the Bulldogs into sixth place, due to point differential. San Francisco's only win this season was a 10-3 victory over Oklahoma City, who now sits in first place, solely, at 3-1 heading into week six.
In the Rollers loss to the Renegades, running back David Badha was held to a season-low 74 yards on 35 carries. Oklahoma City gives up a league-low 36.5 rushing yards per game.
