SAN ANTONIO - The Simulation Football League is proud to take the next step in the development of simulation football today by unveiling our new and improved website along with the Summer 2014 schedule and media guide. The regular season will kickoff with a #footballsunday doubleheader Sunday June 29 beginning in Orlando at 3 p.m. CST, where the defending champion Orlando Intimidators will raise their first-ever championship banner before taking on the Kailua Wyverns. It will be the fifth time that the husband and wife owners will face off in league history. Following the season opener, the SFL Network on Twitch will head to Baltimore, where the expansion Baltimore Crabs will host rival New York at 6 p.m. CST. Dallas will take on Oklahoma City Monday night in the fifth edition of the Southwest Shootout, in Johnny English's first game back from injury and since he re-signed with Dallas in a mega 3-year, $15 million deal. "This season is going to be special," Commissioner Cameron Irvine said. "Our focus is putting on a professional quality product, from our streaming, to our play-by-play experience, through social media and our fantastic upgraded website. Our following has never been higher, our quality of ownership has never been better. This schedule is full of fun and excitement and we can't wait to get it started." Along with the new schedule, website and media guide, the league is launching a campaign for #footballsunday. Every week during the SFL season, besides week two due to a schedule conflict with the Commissioner, the SFL Network will feature a Sunday doubleheader, either at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. or at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. "Our two schedules during the year barely ever contend with the NFL," Irvine said. "We want football fans to have a place to watch football on Sundays, and we want that place to be our network. There's no better alternative. We want viewers to enjoy football every Sunday year round and no one else is providing that to football junkies." The league will be using #footballsunday on social media and encourages others to use the slogan as well, along with #unitedwesim when helping get the SFL and CAG NFL names out to the masses. The SFL will also have select games on Saturdays and Mondays throughout the season. Other blockbuster match ups on the schedule include Joseph Redfeather in his first game as a Bulldog hosting his former team - the New York Knights - in Week 2, a Championship Game rematch between Oklahoma City and Orlando in Week 3 and Baltimore and Dallas squaring off in the first-ever Commissioner's Cup in Week 4. A league-high eight teams will compete for the right to play in the Summer 2014 SFL Championship Game, which will be hosted by the Kailua Wyverns. The Orlando Intimidators hosted Championship Game I and the New York Knights hosted Championship Game II. "There's no doubt that Jaimie Walsh has a lot of passion for her team, and the Wyverns have seen an outpouring of support this year over the changes that have been made to the Wyverns roster by Walsh," Irvine said. "There's no doubt World Bowl I in Hawaii was a special event and we feel that Landmark Coliseum will be a special event come September. Mrs. Walsh will do it justice."
