GRAND RAPIDS — Coming into the game, the New York Knights had won four-straight games and arguably could have headed into this game undefeated. Grand Rapids had lost three straight - two by a combined two points. The top two defenses didn't dissapoint, as the Rollers led a comeback late and kicked a game-winning 38-yard field goal to win, 16-14.
With less than two minutes to go, Grand Rapids' Bradford Unsicker kept a Knight drive alive with a late hit penalty. The next play, Wes St. Clair completed his second touchdown pass to Brock Studwell, putting New York up 14-13 - by 1 point, leaving Roller fans with chilling memories from their last two home games. Marconi completed every pass on his final drive, and finished the game 28/32 for 220 yards.
Park HeeChul's three-game streak of 100 rushing yards or more was snapped by the Roller defense - 99 yards on 25 carries. Grand Rapids forced two turnovers on the day - as many turnovers as New York had in their first five games - including a Billy Joe Gatlin interception in the red zone. New York's Isaac Holt finished with 9 tackles and 4 assisted tackles to lead the Knight defense, who failed to force a turnover. Grand Rapids had the ball for 10 more minutes than New York in the game.
