ORLANDO — The Intimidators knew they faced an uphill battle to make it back to the Championship Game without running back Zach Parker. What Orlando didn't expect was for their receivers to fail them as well. 9 dropped passes, to go along with zero touchdowns in three red zone trips resulted in a 20-9 defeat for the defending champs, launching the New York Knights to their second championship game appearance, looking to become the first team in league history to win two titles.
Despite scoring 9 points, Orlando put up 354 yards of offense. Field position was another key factor, as Orlando - who usually wins the field position battle with star kicker Franklin Reese, lost it Saturday by 11 yards. Wes St. Clair was brilliant again for New York, completing 87% of his passes in the victory. Running back Park HeeChul finishes with 222 all-purpose yards on 55 touches. Lorenzo Allen had 159 yards receiving for Orlando on 14 grabs.
For the third straight game, Orlando's Steven Lambert had 16 or more tackles, a league record. Isaac Holt had two first-quarter interceptions for the Knights. It was the second time New York defeated Orlando in the semi-finals, as the Knights became the first team to win a playoff game on the road in league history. They'll face the winner of Monday night's semifinal in the Summer 2014 Championship Game - San Francisco vs. Baltimore - Monday Sept. 29 in Kailua, HI.
