THE GREATEST SAFETY: KNIGHTS CLAIM TITLE IN FINAL MINUTE

KAILUA — In what will no doubt go down as one of the greatest SFL games ever played, San Francisco made big plays. New York made bigger ones.

Immediately following Wes St. Clair's third interception of the game, Redfeather dropped back into the end zone and was thrown down for a safety that put New York up 22-20 with one minute remaining, the Knights' first points of the second half. San Francisco didn't have the choice of onside kicking, and failed to stop Park HeeChul on a 3rd and 4 on the following drive.

HeeChul sealed the Championship for New York on his former team's home soil, St. Clair won his first title in three tries and for all of the glory they both got throughout the season (both were MVP finalists) it was the Knight defense that shined in the end, despite not forcing a turnover in the game.

And then there is the forgotten hero. The league's all-time leader in receiving yards and touchdowns - coming off a quiet Summer 14 campaign, was altered on the depth chart, put back where he was in the offense the previous two years and flourished. Jake Legacy recorded 162 yards on 8 receptions for a score - his first 100-yard game of the season.

San Francisco's bronze defensive end Randall Watts - picked up three games into the season - was named the league's first Most Valuable Defensive Player, following 13 sacks in five games, tying the league single-season sack record. He and fellow defensive end Jordan Gray combined for 10 tackles in the game.

New York finished the regular season on a three-game losing streak (San Francisco on a three-game winning streak) only to turn it around in the final minute just after a huge blow to the offense following the turnover - on a safety, of all things. New York has won two titles in three years, winning this one in a completly different way: With A.J. Caswell's defense making the big play.

Joseph Redfeather finished his season with three-straight games without an interception.
