KAILUA — The league's first-ever All-Star Game wasn't always the flashiest, but one of the league's best players had a de ja vu moment and one heck of a finish to a brilliant Summer 14 campaign.
Park HeeChul, one week removed from winning his first title as a New York Knight - on the soil of his former team, Kailua - won an All-Star title with team Gray, 29-27. In the Championship Game, HeeChul converted a third and short that allowed New York to seal a win. In the All-Star Game Monday night, HeeChul scored a 1-yard touchdown with 1:42 remaining that put Gray ahead for good.
Baltimore quarterback Mike Dazzo was named the game's MVP, after he threw for 404 yards on 40/52 passing for three scores. His only blemish was an interception throw on the last play of the first half - a Hail Mary.
Neither quarterback was sacked in the game, but MVP Randall Watts did deflect a pass in the first half that forced Gray into a field goal instead of a touchdown opportunity. Baltimore's Elliott Snider had 116 yards threw the air and added 71 more on the ground for 1 score. Brock Studwell nearly helped team Teal to a win - 9 receptions for 147 yards and a 51-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Nick T. Quick was Dazzo's top target - no surprise - 12 catches, 154 yards and a TD.
Andrew Ball led all defenders with 7 tackles (2 for loss) and 2 passes defended, including a fourth down pass intended for Orlando's Lorenzo Allen that was knocked down. Allen - gaurded by Ball most of the night - had only 4 receptions on 10 targets.
