OKLAHOMA CITY - The Simulation Football League is happy following another successful off-season and to officially ring in the new year with kickoff of its fourth season Saturday, when Oklahoma City hosts San Francisco.
This off-season, the league's Grand Rapids franchise changed ownership hands and was relocated to Minneapolis - a franchise that has already proven it's strength over previous ownership.
"Minneapolis is a great addition to our league," said Commissioner Cameron Irvine. "They, like Baltimore did last year, proved this preseason they are ready to win a championship in year one, something our league prides itself on being able to accomplish."
The Kailua and Dallas franchises relocated under the same ownership groups - Kailua to Honolulu and Dallas to Cleveland, bringing the SFL game to two brand new markets. After a flurry of off-season moves, all eight healthy SFL franchises are ready to go in Winter 15.
The league added Play-to-Win Challenges, an all new graphics package, enhanced the broadcast quality by over 400%, now has HD available archieves, along with a redesigned website this off-season. These changes have sent the SFL to the next level in popularity.
"I want to thank all the owners and all of the supporting cast for making this long off-season a tremendous one," Irvine said. "We are on the right path to greatness and have nothing but positives to discuss heading into what should be our most competitive season in league history. It's time to begin."
Sunday afternoon at 3 pm CT, Cleveland hosts Minneapolis and Monday at 6pm CT New York hosts Baltimore. All games can be seen live with play-by-play commentary on the SFL Network on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/simulationfl.
