BUFFALO - In another classic battle between northeast rivals Baltimore and New York, the end result was more of the same. After the Crabs beat the Knights by three and two points in their first SFL season, Baltimore intercepted Knight quarterback Wes St. Clair twice in the final two minutes (four times total in the game) to hold off a furious Knight comeback, 38-34. It was Baltimore's ninth straight regular season win (SFL record).
Joe Lynn (2 interceptions) and Kenneth Lyons (1 interception) stepped up in the absence of Eddie Gauge, who left the game in the third quarter with a high ankle sprain. He will miss next week's game against pass-happy Minneapolis. Joe Dazzo had 16 tackles - one shy of the league record 17, set last season by Steven Lambert.
New York trailed 35-17 before Isaac Holt returned an interception 33 yards for a score. He picked off another Dazzo pass and following a Baltimore face mask penalty, set the Knights up for another score, trimming New York's deficit to seven - 38-31. Nick Quick, Elliott Snider, Park HeeChul and Jake Legacy all had 100-yard plus rushing and receiving days. Snider scored two touchdowns, including a 69-yard score on the fist play of the second half.
