BUFFALO - In what will go down as a memorable game between two historical franchises, San Francisco shocked the SFL landscape by going into Buffalo and taking a victory for the New York Knights 29-23. They did so without their star, gold-star rookie running back Keanu Tuiasosopo, who exited the game with a concussion following 5 yards on his first four carries. Tuiasosopo will miss seven weeks.
Despite the setback, the Bulldogs barely wavered. New York took a 20-19 lead in the third quarter, only to watch their defense allow San Francisco with a touchdown of their own on their next possession. Wes St. Clair threw two more interceptions. He now has si interceptions in two games after throwing 7 all of last season. The Knights started last Winter 0-3 and fall to 0-2, 0-5 in their early games defending a championship.
San Francisco became the first team in league history to return the opening kickoff for a touchdown. They'll have two weeks to figure out their running back and salary cap situation and to prep for their home opener against Orlando. New York will have two weeks to think about falling to 0-2, their fourth straight home loss at Metro Stadium.
