OKLAHOMA CITY - For nearly a quarter, the Oklahoma City Renegades appeared to be en rout to an upset of the Minneapolis Maulers. It didn't take much longer for the Maulers to prove that wouldn't be the case. Rocco Marconi threw another 8 touchdowns - racking up the yards this season - in Minneapolis' 62-31 thrashing of Oklahoma City.

James Cooley and Ayanojyo Aburatsubo each scored three touchdowns, Cooley totaling 334 yards. Marconi's 694 passing yards set another league single-game record. Minneapolis scored 21 points in the second quarter, 24 in the fourth quarter and held Pete Bruschi to under 100 yards, the third straight gols star running back to rush for less than 100 yards against the Mauler defense.

It wasn't a bad day for the Renegade passing game, which compiled 397 passing yards. Tybeerious Bovine and Johnny Beirme had carrer highs - 124 yards on 9 grabs (1 TD) and 127 yards on 7 catches (1 TD), respectively. In the end, there was too much of Minneapolis' blistering attack, which exploited the Renegades' strategy of attempting to put pressure on Marconi.
