SAN ANTONIO - Last season, the Simulation Football League partnered with the CAG NFL, casualadultgamers.com's All-Pro Football online v. online XBOX 360 NFL league. Since the partnership, both league's have received extra attention and more APF lovers have been united thanks to the deal. This season, simulationfl.com will bring you closer to the members of CAG and keep you updated on their fast-paced reported action of their current season, which right now, is season 37.
2x defending champion currently leads the North at 5-1, others are not far behind. Rebelrouser1988's Bucs are 3-4, his best season so far in CAG. Darklord Destro's Redskins are 4-1, challenging vertigho and run n' shoot atop the league's standings. Ramoslynn is narrowly edging commissioner tjspeaks (4-2, 4-3) in the central. Thunderhorse's narrow 18-17 victory over the Falcons on a 2-point conversion helped the Colts stay atop the standings in the Central - that's our Game of the Week! Would love to have had the call on that one.
To follow along with the current season, and to see if 2x defending champion vertigho can be stopped, league update's can be viewed here: http://www.casualadultgamers.com/V5/showthread.php?3093-CAG-NFL-XXXVII-Week-5/page63
Our guest today is 2-time CAG champion X2KFootballG0dX, otherwise known as Run n' Shoot. He is leading the pac with an undefeated record this season and, opposite of the SFL's Minneapolis Maulers, he's winning with defense. Here's what he had to say on the matter, and many other topics concerning All-Pro Football 2k8.
CI: Your defense has given up just 18 points in 7 games this season. What makes you so successful defensively and do you consider yourself a defensive guy? RS: Actually it's only 11 points SanAntonioCorky scorched me for a Kick Return TD in our first match up this season. Yes, I focus mainly on the defensive side of the ball. It's very important to me to be known for defensive play. The reason I am successful is because I attempt to read and react to my opponents offensive play calls. It does help that I have been playing 2K football since Dreamcast, so I sometimes have have a definite idea of my opponents playcall from the snap of the ball. I would suggest everyone play off the line for a more ejoyable defensive experience. There is nothing like reading an opponents play making him pay for it
CI: How many seasons have you been involved with CAG? RS: It's hard to tell. I would have to say 13 or 14 seasons. I have taken a season off or two during my time in CAG.
CI: Why is CAG NFL so fun? RS: The Competition and of course NO Cheese. Everyone in CAG respects each other gameplay.
CI: What makes it so enjoyable that you can't put it down? RS: Man I tell you, I have tried to give it up but it always pulls me back in. I remember after CAG 34, I believe, I just didn't want to play anymore. I missed the playoffs that season and I think my 4 or 5 losses totaled 10 or 12 points. It just was dishearting to say the least and I wanted to give it up.....but the game just pulls me back. I think the reason is it's because it's the closest thing to simulation football that we have.
CI: What is your favorite CAG NFL memory? RS: Other than winning the DAZO Trophy, I would have to say my favorite memory is losing the CAG Bowl to Dazo0007 on a safety in the final seconds of the game. I know it's not favorable but that just tells you how there is such a small room for error in this league and especially deep in the playoffs. Those moments make you love CAG and the game more than you ever thought possible lol
CI: The greatest quality about All-Pro Football 2k8 is...? RS: Is it's attempt to be true to the game of football.
CI: Who is your favorite person to face off with in CAG? Who's your toughest opponent? RS: Every member of CAG is my favorite opponent. My toughest opponent in CAG is really hard to name as there are several memebers who are tough to beat. If pressed I would have to say PcatMagoo because of his ability to mix up his play calling on offense and his defense is very similar to mine. He has the ability read your offense like a book.
CI: What does it take to win a championship in CAG? How do you gameplan? RS: The answer to this question is very tough. To reach the playoffs in CAG is gratifying accomplishment but to reach the CAG Bowl and win....It's very tough. I can't count how many times I have been bumped in the first round in a double OT slugfest or getting torched because you feel you are suppose to win just by showing up and playing...CAG is tough and I respect the guys who have never been to a championship game or even the playoffs but are still trying season in and season out. I guess my gameplan would be to stick to what got me into the CAG Bowl. Although, you must have the ability to change your gameplan in game depending on your opponents ability to hinder what you are trying to do.
CI: You've won two titles, and it's been 9 seasons since your last one? Is Season 37 your year?
RS: I really hope so and in those 9 seasons there has been heartbreak and disgust but this season I feel I have a legitimate shot but I can name several players that will not go quietly into the night lol
CI: Have you ever checked out the SFL on Twitch? Did you realize you can win money by playing SFL Fantasy Football and the Pick 'Em Challenge for free?
RS: Yes I have, and I appreciate what you guys are doing over at SFL. I know players like JDallen love it. I will keep watching. Thanks for the opportunity.
