SAN ANTONIO - Last season, the Simulation Football League partnered with the CAG NFL, casualadultgamers.com's All-Pro Football online v. online XBOX 360 NFL league. Since the partnership, both league's have received extra attention and more APF lovers have been united thanks to the deal. This season, simulationfl.com will bring you closer to the members of CAG and keep you updated on their fast-paced reported action of their current season, which right now, is season 37.

Season 37 is in it's final week, and it's an interesting finishing week, for sure. Not all games have been played, and some teams haven't played enough games to qualify for the postseason, despite their record. A team must have 9 games played and four wins to qualify - currently, only seven teams have qualified for the playoffs: Vertigho, Dazzo007, pcat magoo, dazzo47, allenjd, tjspeaks and tpat. How the final results shake out will determine those final five spots - it's a photo finish! While SFL YouTube partner King Javo has had a rough season, we would like to shoutout his first victory of the year - a 10-9 win over the Chargers (showtime718).

To follow along with the current season, and to see if 2x defending champion vertigho can be stopped, league update's can be viewed here: http://www.casualadultgamers.com/V5/showthread.php?3093-CAG-NFL-XXXVII-Week-5/page63

Our guest today is sanantoniocorky, a casual SFL fan and YouTuber turned CAG gamer. His YouTube videos, including "Straight to the Effin Point", one of Commissioner Irvine's favorite YouTube partner segments are big hits in gaming media and his smooth sultry voice now begins each SFL broadcast. We caught up with Corky to get his thoughts, on CAG, the SFL and the great city of San Antonio.

CI: You've had a rough season in CAG this year. What has made this season so challenging?

SA: You know it's not just one thing but a combination of things. I like winning as much as the next guy but it's not a do or die thing with me. It's kind of like when Tiger Woods would change up his swing I chose to take this season to change up my game and experiment on both sides of the ball. I'm not happy being 0-6 but I am happy with the results of my experimentation and the direction I'm headed in so far as being competitive in CAG. I plan on bringing a few surprises for season XXXVIII.

CI: How many seasons have you been involved with CAG?

SA: I started in season XXXIII prior to that TJ had reached out to me a couple of seasons before but I really didn't think it was something I wanted to do I was pretty happy just doing videos. Once I got involved it became apparent this was a truly a good league and I've been having fun ever since.

CI: Why is CAG NFL so fun?

SA: In large part due to TJ. I've been in many Madden leagues where the commissioners all started off with good intentions but eventually they became heavy handed and started running people off. TJ has such a low key approach where he injects himself where he's needed when he's needed. I've seen the forums blow up with strife from time to time and TJ allows everyone to have their say before stepping in. That alone makes it fun to where I've come from. TJ is the ultimate commissioner IMHO. Also the respect that is a prerequisite to be in the league is great. Trash talking is ok to a certain degree but some guys just don't know how far to take it so this makes the league just that much more fun the respect everyone shows each other and it makes me proud to be associated with such a long standing league.

CI: What makes it so enjoyable that you can't put it down?

SA: It truly is a shame that 2K Sports only had the 2 truly great efforts in 2K5 and APF2K8. Both games albeit not perfect have come the closest to putting in the game what we see on Sundays. The passing alone is simply untouched and you really feel that you had a hand in your completions. APF2K8 was rushed and yet we always find things that still make your jaw drop the SFL game where you pointed out the lineman stepping over the running back comes to mind. Who put's something like that in their game? Not those other guys that's for sure. The biggest thing though it's not just about stick skills granted you do need some but APF is a game that lends itself to also having a good scheme which is why it's so great. Good stick with no scheme will get you creamed in this league. But if you have both you become quite formidable for example xxrunnshootxx, dazzooo07, PcatMagoo, and Vertigho are just a few that come to mind although there are several this is a very very tough and fun league.

CI: As your username indicates, you hail from the great city of San Antonio, where the SFL is headquartered. What's your favorite part about the city and what's the best entertainment option (just in case anyone ever decides to visit!)

SA: I've been in San Antonio now going on 13 years and for me the best part about San Antonio is its diversity and friendly atmosphere. I'm originally from the Dallas area and being ex-military I've been all over the world and I have found nowhere else to be as comfortable as San Antonio. It's a large city that has a small town feel which I know sounds crazy. Dallas is all hustle and bustle and depending on where you’re at and the time of day can be downright scary even for me. I don't get that here in San Antonio it's pretty laid back which is what I like. The entertainment option even though it can be called a tourist trap is the downtown area to me a can't miss option whether it's the River Walk, the Alamo, or just seeing the sights in general it's something I would recommend.

CI: What is your favorite CAG NFL memory?

SA: Beating the defending Champion Dazooo07's Green Bay Packers. I believe it was season XXXIV and it was an OT game that I won on like a 47 yard field goal. I really thought I was hot #@%* needless to say we've met 3 or 4 times since then and I've come close but no cigar. Mike is a really good player and I know his struggle and how he's worked very hard to get to where he's at so my victory over him has been my favorite moment.

CI: The greatest quality about All-Pro Football 2k8 is...?

SA: The overall feeling of simulation it gives you through its use of the animations in the game. They are not stiff and repetitive. There is a fluidness to it all that makes it feel real.

CI: Who is your favorite person to face off with in CAG? Who's your toughest opponent?

SA: There are several but if I had to pick I would say XxrunnshootXx for both after sitting out for a few season's he has come back with a vengeance. I think this may be his year and every time I've played him this seasons and previous seasons I've always picked up a nugget or 2 from him.

CI: What does it take to win a championship in CAG? How do you gameplan?

SA: Having been in the playoffs twice without winning one I'm not sure I'm the person to ask. If I had to guess just from observing the guys I've played you have to stay consistent without becoming predictable which as simple as it sounds is easier said than done. Prime example is myself I will be editing a video and see tendencies that I'm sure my opponent saw as well where I should have just pm'ed him the play lol. The consistency comes from staying with what your good at and not straying too far from the beaten path if that makes sense. When you gameplan stay with the gameplan so many times it's so easy to get rattled using myself as an example and you feel you have to change things up when it doesn't work for a series or two which is not the case. Tjspeaks and Dazzo47 are two players to me that don't venture to far outside their comfort zone and they stay the course regardless of the score. Long winded answer but in a nutshell stay away from tendencies but remain consistent.

CI: What is your favorite part about the Simulation Football League? If there's one thing you wish the league had, what would that be?

SA: My favorite part is Cam of course; he makes even the most ordinary play exciting. The league is ran very well and complete in my mind’s eye so there is nothing I wish that could be added.
