ORLANDO - There haven't been many games like the New York Knights and the Orlando Intimidators on March 16. Both running backs - Zach Parker and Park HeeCHul - rushed for 274 yards on the day. Parker had two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. HeeChul scored three times on the ground and once through the air. When the dust cleared, Orlando prevailed 43-31 to improve to 3-3 (third place) and 3-0 at home, their home finale coming next Sunday against the Baltimore Crabs.
Orlando scored 38 of their 43 points in the first half. Up just 38-31 in the fourth quarter and punting, the Intimidators pinned the Knights back to their own goalline thanks to brilliant special teams. New York on the next play ran out of the side of the endzone for a safety, nearly sealing the game. The Knights got one last shot, forcing another punt in the late stages, which was fumbled and given back to Orlando. It was the third straight home game in which Orlando scored 40 points or more.
Quarterback Ohno Matsumoto recorded his third-straight 100+ effeciency rating, passing for 240 yards and three scores. Lorenzo Allen had a season high 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Matsumoto had more receptions than gold star tight end Brock Studwell - Matsumoto had a pass batted back to him in the first quarter for a seven yard loss. D.J. McCoo had 11 tackles for the Knights - 3 tackles for loss - and intercepted Matsumoto with a shoe-string catch near the goal line off a dropped ball.
