MINNEAPOLIS - For a quarter, the Maulers appeared to be in trouble on the road against the Honolulu Legends. The the Maulers reminded everyone just how dominant they cane be. Down 21-14 at the end of one - with only one offensive touchdown - the Maulers outscored Honolulu 20-0 in the second quarter and scored the next 34 points in the game overall en route to a 58-31 victory, improving Minneapolis to 7-0 and improving coach/owner Thomas Paterniti to 15-0 all-time in the regular season.
Free safety Koma Keleka was a big reason why. He returned his second kickoff return for a touchdown of the season in the first quarter, allowing the Maulers to keep it close. On defense, Keleka had 6 tackles, 4 assisted tackles and 3 passes defended. Ayanojyo Aburatsubo outshined James Cooley once again - and against his former team - with 272 yards on 17 grabs for four touchdowns. Rocco Marconi once more threw for over 600 yards.
Kevin Walker threw for over 300 yards but it wasn't enough on this day. Both quarterbacks were sacked six times. Lawrence Kirkland and Yuya Aiba combined for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. Noel Kreiss was held to under 100 yards. Honolulu drops to 2-4, now in a three-way tie for fifth and face Cleveland (1-5) and San Francisco (2-3) to close out the season.
